Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has recently announced significant changes affecting its itinerary for the upcoming cruise season. After previously cancelling numerous sailings on three of its vessels, the cruise line has now added further cancellations for the Norwegian Jade, impacting travel plans for many passengers.
Cancelled Sailings on Norwegian Jade
The Norwegian Jade’s sailings scheduled between October 18, 2025, and February 16, 2026, have been officially cancelled. This decision comes as part of NCL’s strategy to modify their fleet deployment.
In a notable shift, the Norwegian Jade will be re-based to San Diego instead of its original home in Miami. This transition will enable the ship to provide a series of Caribbean cruises ranging from 6 to 14 nights.
According to the cruise line, “The Norwegian Jade will be redeployed and will soon be offering seven-day round trip sailings from San Diego to the Mexican Riviera, where guests can explore a blend of stunning coastal landscapes, rich cultural experiences, and unforgettable culinary delights.” For those interested, details on the new schedule will be available for booking soon.
Impact on Other Norwegian Cruise Line Ships
The Norwegian Jade is not alone; last week, NCL also scrapped 38 sailings across three of its vessels—the Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Star, and Norwegian Jewel—scheduled between November 2025 and April 2026.
- Norwegian Dawn: Sailings cancelled from November 2, 2025 through April 12, 2026.
- Norwegian Star: Sailings cancelled from November 20, 2025 through April 14, 2026.
- Norwegian Jewel: Sailings cancelled from November 23, 2025 through April 5, 2026.
Reasons Behind the Cancellations
NCL has outlined “fleet redeployment” as the primary reason for these significant alterations in their cruise offerings. This information was communicated to passengers and travel partners via letters sent on November 21, as reported by USA Today.
Additionally, Cruise Mummy notes that NCL has been recognized for frequently changing its seasonal itineraries due to low demand from travelers.
Compensation for Affected Passengers
Passengers impacted by these cancellations will receive a full refund along with a 10% future cruise credit, providing an incentive for them to rebook with NCL in the future.
